This announcement should have gone out at the end of March, but it has been a busy few weeks. My vampire novel, Bloodstains by Gaslight, released March 29 from Brigids Gate Press. It was the weekend of Authorcon by Scares That Care in Williamsburg, VA when it came out.
I’ve been attending Authorcon every year since it started, and I absolutely love this event. To be invited as a Guest of Honor was a really big deal for me, and while I suffered just a wee bit of imposter syndrome that weekend, I certainly didn’t allow it to keep me from enjoying every moment. I’m so thankful to the organizers for all they do.
But back to the novel: It’s the late 90s, and there are vampires, but don’t expect any sparkly, romantic sexy encounters. This is a tragic story of abuse, trauma, and bad decisions told through the lens of a vampire tale. I poured my heart into this and hope you get a chance to check it out.
You can order it wherever books are sold online or ask your local book retailers and librarians to get you a copy.
Synopsis:
It’s 1997, senior year, and aspiring astronomy student, Reese, has her eyes set on the stars. The only thing holding her back is her jealous boyfriend, Michael. Though he has been her best friend for years, his increasingly manipulative and abusive behavior cannot be tolerated any longer. However, moments before Reese gathers the courage to break up with him, Michael is in a tragic accident. There are no rational explanations that can make sense of the changes Reese sees in him, but it is clear Michael is becoming something inhuman—something impossible. Intoxicated with unbridled power, he sinks his teeth into her jugular and traps Reese in a life of inescapable horror.
Bloodstains by Gaslight takes an uncomfortable look at intimate partner violence, exploring the monsters of humanity through the lens of a vampire tale.
