BOOKS:

A vampire novel:
It’s 1997, senior year, and aspiring astronomy student, Reese, has her eyes set on the stars. The only thing holding her back is her jealous boyfriend, Michael. Though he has been her best friend for years, his increasingly manipulative and abusive behavior cannot be tolerated any longer. However, moments before Reese gathers the courage to break up with him, Michael is in a tragic accident. There are no rational explanations that can make sense of the changes Reese sees in him, but it is clear Michael is becoming something inhuman—something impossible. Intoxicated with unbridled power, he sinks his teeth into her jugular and traps Reese in a life of inescapable horror.
Bloodstains by Gaslight takes an uncomfortable look at intimate partner violence, exploring the monsters of humanity through the lens of a vampire tale.

NIGHTMARE SKY: STORIES OF ASTRONOMICAL HORROR:
edited by Red Lagoe, with a foreword by Aurealis Award-winning author, Alan Baxter
The very dust of the stars’ explosive pasts traveled lightyears across the unknown, and now that dust pulses through our veins, drawing our eyes up, back to our origins. Since the dawn of humanity, the stars have called for us to gaze upon their brilliance, and we sit around campfires making up tales of their histories. Tales which are often fraught with horror.
Ranging from psychological to apocalyptic, sci-fi to bizarre, quiet to gruesome and all the horrors in between, these 28 dark stories and poems explore our awe-inspiring- and terrifying -human connection to the stars.
Take a look through the eyepiece and into an astronomer’s failing mind. Observe an obsessed lover who can’t get enough of the celestial view. Board a space station as the last remaining people debate whether humanity is worth saving. And ask yourself…
What will you do when the sky begins to devour us all?

Every day is steeped in horror. An inexplicable force in the wild. A serpent lurking in the shadows. Or the sinister thoughts forged in the deepest abyss of a tortured mind.
Lagoe offers a gamut of horrific experiences artfully woven into thirteen stories. Explore the darkness within a selfish heart, face death among ghosts, and roar into the snarling maw of the beast. Horror can be empowering if we can survive our most Dismal Dreams.
Red Lagoe, author of Lucid Screams, brings us her follow up collection of horror shorts, Dismal Dreams, with a foreword by Bram Stoker Award-winning author of The Devil’s Dreamland, Sara Tantlinger.

Monsters take many forms—mythical creature, human, inner demon, fear… When confronted by such savage beasts, the vulnerability of humanity is often exposed. These sixteen horror stories explore the supernatural, as well as real life horror associated with grief, guilt, severed relationships, and severed limbs.

Fair Haven, Red’s debut novel, was released in 2017, went out of print for a few years, and returned in 2025
A rabies-like supervirus bleeds into Melody’s neighborhood, turning all those infected into ravenous aggressors. While watching society crumble beyond her threshold, Melody hides in the safety of her attic, waiting for her husband to return home. Days have passed, and it’s becoming apparent that he’s not coming. She pushes her fear aside and propels herself out the front door with a baseball bat in hand, ready to venture across town on a mission save her husband—and their failing marriage.
After teaming up with her neighbor, her determination is put to the test. Despite butting heads with the man next door, she develops an unsettling attraction to him, and they grow to rely on each other for strength and friendship.
Unsure if her husband is still alive, her reasons for going on are called into question, and it doesn’t take long before she begins to doubt her strength. Fair Haven is a cross-genre story of personal struggle and romance with a plethora of bash’em-in-the-head action.
